Golf is rewarding and maddening experience. The elation of hitting a low iron pure, draining a long putt for eagle, or crushing a 300+ yard drive can be easily quelled by the emotions of a missed tap-in, a pull-hook O.B., or shanking one into the woods. There is always going to be one or two shots you want back. Physics isn’t always your friend. Nor are the weather gods.

It’s a game that can be played into old age and an honoured tradition that allows a break from our digital world. It is a game against nature, against the competition, and against yourself. And the reasons so many of us keep coming back.
